Your computer must be linked to the CenturyLink WiFi network in order to access the CenturyLink router settings page. An Ethernet cable can be used to connect your PC to the router, or you can connect wirelessly over the WiFi network. This does not require internet connectivity.
Login to 192.168.0.1
Once connected, access the CenturyLink router settings page by following these easy steps:
- Open your preferred web browser on the computer that is linked to the CenturyLink network.
- Enter http://192.168.0.1, the CenturyLink router’s default IP address, in the URL bar and hit Enter.
- The CenturyLink router login page will be displayed to you. To proceed, you will need to enter your Administrator username and password.
- You can use the default username and password to log in if you haven’t changed your Administrator credentials. It is printed on a label that is located on the router’s back.
- To log in, enter your administrator username and password, then click Apply.
- You will be sent to the router’s home page. From there, you can change the router’s configuration.
Change the SSID for the CenturyLink WiFi
Your WiFi network’s name, or SSID, can be modified via the router’s settings page. Since the CenturyLink WiFi network’s default SSID can be confusing and difficult to remember, you can take the following actions to modify it:
- Use the previously indicated way to log into the router’s settings page.
- Click the Wireless Setup button on the router’s main page.
- Select the SSID Setup option from the menu on the left.
- Choose the SSID you wish to modify now.
- Enter the updated SSID in the designated field after scrolling down.
- To save the modifications, click Apply.
Modify the CenturyLink WiFi password
Any router’s default Wi-Fi password is a random combination of letters and digits that are printed on the label on the back of the device. Most people would rather change this password because it is difficult to remember. The following steps will let you modify the password for your CenturyLink WiFi network:
- Go to the router’s settings page and log in. The technique is described above.
- Click the Wireless Setup button on the router settings page.
- Choose Wireless Security from the menu on the left.
- Next, choose the network’s SSID that you wish to modify the password for.
- WPA2 Personal is the security type you should choose.
- Choose the Use Custom Security Key/Passphrase option after scrolling down.
- In the Security Key/Passphrase field, type the new WiFi password.
- In order to save the modifications, click Apply.
- After the router has rebooted, you can use the new password to connect to the network.
