Using Telstra Gateway’s IP address or http://telstra.gateway/, you can modify the default modem settings, WiFi password, and Network Name (SSID).
How can I access my Telstra modem?
- Enter the right IP address or URL for your modem in a browser window. With an adaptor, type http://10.0.0.138 or http://telstra.gateway/ for nbn/ADSL/Velocity/Cable modems. Enter http://192.166.0.1 or http://telstra.gateway/ for cable modems without an adaptor. Enter either http://mygateway/ or http://192.168.0.1 for the Telstra Gateway Frontier/Telstra Smart Modem.
- Click Login after entering the default username and password. For Telstra Smart Modem 1.1 and Gen 2, the username is admin and the password is Telstra. The password for your Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3 is the same as the Wi-Fi password found on the bottom of the device.
- You’ll have your Telstra Gateway login credentials.
Note: Find the default IP address of your modem if the IP address won’t open. Please read the instruction booklet that came with your modem if it is not Telstra.
How can I modify the network name and password for Telstra WiFi?
- Open the Telstra Gateway management panel and log in.
- From the menu at the top of the home screen, select Wi-Fi.
- In the Network Name field under Wi-Fi Network settings, type the Wi-Fi name.
- In the Network Key area, type the Wi-Fi password.
- To save the settings, click Apply.
The 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands must be configured independently if you have a dual-band modem. From the settings, you can also set up your guest network.
